This week a Prostate Forum reader asks Dr. Myers: “I’ve just had a biopsy of my prostate and I’ve been told that I have prostate cancer. It is 5% of one core and it’s a Gleason 3+3=6. I’d like to consider various treatment options, but my surgeon has told me that it’s really critical that I have surgery right away and that I don’t have time for second opinions or to consider other treatment modalities.”
Dr. Myers’s response touches on what Gleason scores mean, PSA screening for prostate cancer, active surveillance, and the management of early stage prostate cancer.
